Absent Work versus Missing Work

Absent Work

• Absent work is work that is either newly assigned work or work that is collected on a day when you were not in school.

• When you return, turn in any work that was due or look on Schoology/ask Ms. Gorder for new work that you need to complete and turn in. Get that done within ONE WEEK of coming back to school. You need to make up absent work in a timely manner. 

• If you are out longer than one week, meet with me and we will customize a plan for you. That’s a lot of work to miss from all 8 classes, and I don’t want you to feel overwhelmed and like you’re drowning! We’ll figure it out :)

Missing Work

• Missing work is when you are in school but your work is not. 
• Your grade will be a 0 (zero) in Schoology. It will also say “missing” next to it.
• But! All is not lost!
• The week before the end of each quarter is “Second Chance Window” week. During this time, you have the opportunity to turn in up to two missing assignments. 
• So if you did the work, but forgot it at home, simply save it to turn in at this time. 
• Or if you didn’t do the work in the first place, now’s the time!

History Grading Categories: 

• History Unit Work (60%)
• Quizzes (15%)
• Learning Logs / Writing (25%)

I use a traditional grading scale.
