OUR PRINCIPAL'S MESSAGE FOR OCTOBER 2008

Dear King Parents,

A - Track has completed 4 weeks of classes and C – Track has completed 12 weeks. Parents are reminded that progress/report cards are mailed home every four weeks. You should receive progress reports through the mail shortly. If your child earns A’s, B’s or C’s as marks, and E’s and S’s in work habits and cooperation, he or she is progressing satisfactorily. If however, your child earns a D or a Fail, or has U’s in work habits and cooperation, please call the Guidance Office at (323) 644-6715 to make an appointment with your child’s counselor. In order to improve his or her grades, it is important that your child take advantage of the intervention programs at King.

LACER – Homework Club after school every day until 6:00 p.m. except Tuesdays until 5:00 p.m. You may contact Mr. Gary Brown at for more information (323) 644-6769

Intersession – classes are for 4 weeks long for students who are off track and are in need of remedial classes in Mathematics or language Arts. You may contact Ms. Malone at (323) 644-6719 or Mr. Martinez at (323) 644-6768

Saturday School – is a year round intervention program. Sessions are either 7 or 8 weeks long. Students receive assistance in mathematics, English Language Arts or English as a Second Language based on their CST Scores or by parent request. EIEP–Emergency Immigrant Education Program provides 80 hours of structured intervention for English Learners in the Spring.

SES-Supplemental Educational Services provided after school, on Saturdays/Sundays or during off track time by organizations and agencies approved by the California state Board of Education. Please contact Ms. Malone at (323) 644-6719 or Mr. Martinez at (323) 644-6768 for more information.
