PRINCIPAL'S MESSAGE for March 2007

Dear King Parents,

With the arrival of Spring comes the Testing Time of the year. This is the time of year we ask our students to show what they have learned through various assessments.

California Standards Test (CST).
  • Track C:  Monday through Friday, March 12 - 23, 2007
  • Tracks A & B:  Monday through Friday, May 14 – 25, 2007
Results of this assessment help determine the appropriate placement of students in classes (regular, gifted, advanced studies, magnet, ESL). It also plays a determining factor in the reclassification of English Language Learners. Please help us establish the importance of doing well on this assessment by ensuring your child:
  • Goes to sleep early
  • Eats a good breakfast
  • Tries their best
California Fitnessgram Test
  • Track B has just completed their Fitnessgram Test
  • Track A & C March 5, 2007 – April 21, 2007
Results of this exam are forwarded to the State of California for a state-wide comparison. The state is concerned with the rising obesity issues in children. Presently, high school students are required to take two years of Physical Education. In the future students may be asked to take up to 4 years of Physical Education. Encourage your children to participate in family physical activities such as taking nature walks and bicycling.
As we are in our second semester and nearing the end of the school year, please be mindful of the following:

Report cards are mailed home approximately every 4 weeks:

  • Tuesday, March 6, 2007 – Tracks B & C
  • Monday,  April 9, 2007 – Tracks A & C
  • Thursday, May 3, 2007 – Tracks A & C
  • Monday, June 4, 2007 – Tracks A & B
  • Thursday, July 5, 2007 – Tracks A & B
WE WILL CONTINUE TO WORK TOGETHER TO PROVIDE THE BEST LEARNING ENVIRONMENT AT SCHOOL AND AT HOME

Respectfully,
Charlene Hirotsu, Principal
