Complete the Reflection on the Thesis Statement of the Declaration of Independence on pages N56-N57.
 
Step 1: Find a quote in Part II (on page N52) to answer each of the questions (found in the first column) on page N56. Write the quotes in the corresponding spaces in the second column.
  1. Which quote from Part II of Declaration of Independence gives you the most pride as an American?
  2. Which quote from Part II of Declaration of Independence surprised you the most?
  3. Which quote from Part II of Declaration of Independence applies or relates the most to you personally?
  4. Which quote from Part II of Declaration of Independence (in your opinion) is unfulfilled or not completely followed in our nation?
  • You may use a sentence, a phrase, a few words, or a single word for each quote.
  • You may not use a quote more than one time. You must use a different quote for each response.
 
Step 2: Write the meaning of each of your quotes in the third column. (Translate the quote into modern English. / Write it in your own words.)
 
Step 3: In the final column, explain why or how the quote answers the question. For example, for the third question, explain how the quote you chose relates to you personally. You may chose to add a sheet of paper to the right side of the page in order to extend the space you have for your answers.

1. Revise and Edit your second draft. Continue to use the PDF of the Revising and Editing Check List (see below) to carefully check that you have completed all of the requirements for this paragraph.
 
2. Write your final draft. Here are your options:
  • Write your final draft on a clean sheet of paper in ink pen that is easy to read. (No light colors, please.)
  • Use a word processing program such as Google Docs to write your final draft. Make sure you use the Formatting for Word Processing requirements given in class. You can also find these requirements in the Writing section of my page. Locate "Writing" in the green box on my Home page and click on the link.
  • Make sure you are using your own words!
3. Turn in your final draft, second draft, and half sheet at the beginning of class on the due date (see above). If you prefer, you may email your final draft (or share if using Google Docs) to me. In order to be counted on time, I must receive it in my email ([email protected]) before the start of class on your due date.
