Welcome to the 2019-2020 school year. I hope that this year proves to be one of academic growth for your child. It is my pleasure to collaborate with you in the academic and social development of your child. This year we are going to learn New Generation Science Standards (NGSS) and we are going to follow the preferred integrated model for science instruction. This means that you will have a chance to learn topics from all branches of science: Earth Science, Life Science, and Physical Science. Engineering design and art standards will be embedded throughout the course in many activities and assignments. Looking forward to a great year!
Should be done and kept in your binder. Homework will be assigned Wednesdays. Incomplete work and work not turned in will not be given credit. Homework will be recorded on a chart in the classroom.
Quizzes and Tests:
There will be periodic quizzes on what has been learned as well as unit tests. Students are expected to study and be prepared for these assessments.
Projects: There will be group projects as well as individual projects that will be assigned throughout the year. Students will be given class time to start and work on projects.
All work will be neatly completed in pencil unless otherwise noted. All paper will have the assignment’s title clearly written on the top line, first name, last name, date and class period.
Make Up Work: If you are absent, it is your responsibility to make up missed assignments and turn in. It is also your responsibility to make up missed quizzes and tests.
Note Taking: During the lesson, take notes on the lecture or activity. Your notes will go in your notebook. Your notes will assist with your classwork and homework, as well as quizzes and tests.
