Set in Denmark during World War II, Number the Stars is a simple yet poignant play about a young girl's contribution to the resistance movement. Annemarie Johansen, a 14-year old girl living in Copenhagen, is faced with the knowledge that the Nazis are beginning to "relocate" the Jews in her city. She and her family risk their lives by hiding her best friend Ellen Rosen and Ellen’s family from the Nazis and then secretly transporting them safely to Sweden. Number the Stars is a play that deals with the important themes of heroism, friendship, and loyalty. It will warm your hearts and keep you thinking long after it is over.
