CALIFORNIA PHYSICAL FITNESS TEST

State law requires school districts to administer the Physical Fitness Test (PFT) annually to all students in grades 5, 7 and 9. The FITNESSGRAM is a set of tests designed to evaluate health-related fitness and to assist students in establishing lifetime habits of regular physical activity. The test measures student performance in aerobic capacity, body composition, muscular strength, endurance and flexibility.

Currently, all students are preparing for these tests during their PE classes. King will test all students in order to compare growth and prepare 8th graders for the high school FITNESSGRAM. Only 7th grades scores will be submitted to the state. Students in B-Track will begin testing this month, C-Track will test in March and A-Track in April.

Parents, please encourage your children to do their best on these tests. The FITNESSGRAM will account for 25% of their PE grade. With your assistance, our students will see life-long physical activity as a positive aspect of their lives.

Thank you for your assistance and we will see you at Student-Led Conference Night on Thursday, February 21, 2008.
