You are cordially invited to be a presenter at Thomas Starr King Middle School’s Career Day on Thursday, February 27, 2014. Last year’s Career Day received great feedback from students, parents, presenters, and the community, and we hope to pull it off again! We want our students to learn about the countless career opportunities that are available to them and how education will provide that road to success. While careers of all types are welcome, we especially encourage those that represent one of our magnet themes (i.e. Gifted/High Ability Technology & Arts Magnet, Environmental Studies Magnet, and Film/Media/Cinematic Arts Magnet). We are envisioning a classroom rotation, where each presenter will do a 15-minute presentation up to 6 times, from about 10:00 am to 12:30 pm.

Your presentation can include, but is not limited to:
• Why you chose your occupation and/or why you love it
• What you learned in middle school/high school that you use in your career
• Education/College experience
• Skills needed for your occupation
• Description of a typical day
• Level of demand for people in your field
• Starting salary or salary range
• Anything else you believe would be of interest to our students

If you would like to participate in this wonderful opportunity, please RSVP as soon as possible, but no later than February 1st. Click on the link below.

A confirmation email will be sent to you with more details, such as exact times and further instructions. If you have any questions, please contact Valorie Milio, Magnet Coordinator at (323) 644-6755 or [email protected].

We look forward to hearing from you. Feel free to spread the word to other enthusiastic and dynamic presenters. Thank you!
