JULY 2006 PRINCIPAL'S MESSAGE

Dear King Parents,

My message is to welcome everyone to the 2006-2007 School Year at Thomas Starr King Middle School.  I would like to extend a special welcome to our incoming 6th and 7th grade  students.  You are now “KING LIONS”!  Have you seen our new mural on the corner of Fountain Avenue and Bates Avenue?  It was a product of a  Los Angeles City Beautification Grant that we received. Again, welcome to King Middle School.

All of us at King Middle School will continue to work hard to build a sense of family.  The expectations are for everyone, students, teachers, parents, support staff, administration and our community to work together to provide a quality education along with the best learning environment possible.  Please join us in this effort.

Please come to King to participate in the various school events:
  • Learn at our Saturday Parent Workshops beginning on Saturday, July 8, 2006 (8 weeks)
  • Learn about how to assist your child at home at our Student Planner Workshop.
    • Thursday, July 13, 2006 from 2:30-3:30 p.m. in the Parent Center
    • Thursday, July 20, 2006 from 5:00-6:00 p.m. in the Auditorium
  • Learn about your child’s classes at our Back to School Night.
    • Thursday, July 20, 2006 for Tracks B and C
  • Learn about CEAC (Title I), ELAC (English Learners), and SSC (School Site) Advisory Councils
    • Thursday, August 24, 2006 at 8:00 a.m. in the Auditorium for an Orientation
    • Thursday, August 31, 2006 at 8:00 a.m. in the Auditorium for Elections
It will be an exciting school year with many opportunities for all.  Again, I ask for your support for our staff at King Middle School, as we do support all of your efforts at home.  Please join us in raising your children to become productive citizens of society.
