IT'S ALL ABOUT THE LIBRARY!

Welcome to the new school year!  We are especially excited to get to know all of our new students to King Middle School.  The library is open everyday before, during, and after school. Many students visit during their nutrition and lunch breaks as well. Students use the library daily to borrow books, study, read, and meet with friends. We have a collection of over 30,000 books and technology resources to help you be successful in school.

This year King students are going to participate in the Million Word Challenge.  We are encouraging all of our students to read toward this goal of 1,000,000 words.  This is approximately 25 chapter books.  This is a great idea because we know that reading builds your vocabulary and helps you be a better student.  Students will keep track of the books they’ve read on a reading log.  Those students who meet the challenge will be invited to Feria de Libro in June of 2007. This is a family book fair that honors, with prizes the top readers from LAUSD schools. We have such great books in the King library that it won’t be a problem for our students to find books they’ll want to read.

Library Hours:
6:45 a.m. - 3:45 p.m.

Circulation Policies:
•    Students may check out up to 3 books at a time.
•    The loan period is 2 weeks and you may renew books twice.
•    No fines are charged for overdue books, but you may not borrow any more books until you clear your account.
•    Students must pay for lost or damaged books.

Remember…

The library is a special place full of resources that can help you be a great student.  When you need books to read, information, help with assignments or access to technology, the library is the place to go.
