PARENTS GETTING INVOLVED AT KING!

PARENTS WE NEED YOUR HELP!

During the month of October, Leadership is planning various activities for our students. If you would like to volunteer to help with supervision during these lunch activities, please contact Mr. Olmedilla at (323) 644-6700.

1. Quarterback Challenge – Wednesday, October 13 held in the PE Field
Students will compete in an accuracy throw. They will throw a football at targets of different distances. The longer the distance the more points they can earn. The student with the most points wins a football.

2. Balloon Rumble – Friday, October 15, at the Amphitheater Stage
Students will try to pop balloons tied to their opponents’ ankles by stepping on them. The contestant with the last balloon intact wins a bag of candy or chocolates (M & M’s or Reeses Pieces)

3. Noon Dance – Wednesday, October 20, in the Boys Gym
Fund raising activity $1.00 a ticket a maximum of 250 tickets sold.

4. Balloon-Popping/Race Contest - Friday, October 22 in the PE Field
Students will team up in pairs. The students run and get the balloons from one side and pop the balloon by sitting on them the other side. The pair with most balloons popped wins a bag of candy or chocolates (M & M’s or Reeses Pieces)

5. Mummy Wrap – Wednesday, October 27 in the Amphitheater Stage
Students will team up in pairs. And use toilet paper for wrapping. The student audience will decide on the winning pair.

6. Halloween Costume Contest - Friday, October 29, 2010 in the Amphitheater Stage
There will be three categories: Cutest, Scariest, and Most Original. 1st place receives a $25 gift card 2nd and 3rd place receive a $10 gift card
We are always in need of parents willing to help with supervision, in the offices or with teacher approval, in the classroom.

PARENT WORKSHOPS

Please participate in the Parent Workshops presented by our staff on Wednesdays in the Parent Center room 101. Topics include:

• October 20 – Choices Parents can make in the Education of their children –
Ms. Weir 8:00 a.m. – 10:00 a.m.

• October 27 – King’s Academic/Culmination Requirements –
Ms. Kantack - 8:00 a.m. – 10:00 a.m. and 1:00 p.m. – 3:00 p.m.

• November 3 – Discipline Policy –
Mr. Ramirez - 8:00 a.m. – 10:00 a.m. and 1:00 p.m. – 3:00 p.m.

• November 10 – Safety Plan –
Mr. Ramirez - 8:00 a.m. – 10:00 a.m. and 1:00 p.m. – 3:00 p.m.
Parents are also invited to attend our monthly Parent Advisory Committees
CEAC meets on the 1st Thursday of the month in the Parent Center room 101 at 8:30 a.m.

ELAC meets on the 2nd Thursday of the month in the Parent Center room 101 also at 8:30 a.m. and

School Site Council meets on the 3rd Thursday of the month in the School Library at 11:30 a.m.

With teachers, parents and students working together we can continue to increase academic achievement at King.
