JANUARY AND FEBRUARY 2006 STAFF DEVELOPMENT OPPORTUNITIES

Several LAUSD Peer Assistance & Review (PAR) Program workshops are available to extend and enhance your teaching practice. You must pre-register to participation in any of the PAR Program workshops. Registration fees will be paid for by the PAR Program. The workshops will have limited enrollment. Substitute coverage will be paid by King Middle School for King Staff. Please obtain the workshop registration forms and arrange substitute coverage with Assistant Principal Mr. Mark Jolley <[email protected]>. DEADLINES ARE SOON.

All Workshops will be held at Wilshire Plaza-UTLA Building, 3303 Wilshire Blvd. Suite 400 on the 4th floor, in Los Angeles (enter parking structure from Berendo).

RECIPROCAL TEACHING FOR SECONDARY MATH TEACHERS OF GRADES 6-12
(Wednesday, January 11 2006 and Wednesday, February 8, 2006. Full participation in this 2-day workshop is required. Sign in begins at 7:30 AM. Workshop begins at 8:00 AM and concludes at 3:00 PM. Doors will close at 8:00 am to ensure a prompt session. An attendance verification form will be sent to your time reporter. Lunch will be on your own.)

RECIPROCAL TEACHING FOR SECONDARY SCIENCE TEACHERS OF GRADES 6-12
(Thursday, January 12, 2006 and Thursday, February 9, 2006. Full participation in this 2-day workshop is required. Sign in begins at 7:30 AM. Workshop begins at 8:00 AM and concludes at 3:00 PM. CLASSROOM MANAGEMENT (Based on Tools for Teaching by Fred Jones) (Saturday, January 21, 2006. Sign in begins at 7:30 AM. Workshop begins at 8:00 AM and concludes at 3:00 PM. Full participation in this one-day workshop is required. Doors will close at 8:00 am to ensure a prompt session. No late entries will be allowed. An attendance verification form will be sent to your school. Lunch is on your own.)

WRITING INSTRUCTIONAL OBJECTIVES: IMPROVING CLASSROOM PERFORMANCE
