OUR PRINCIPAL'S MESSAGE FOR NOVEMBER 2009

Principal’s Message

Dear King Parents,

We have now completed 8 weeks of school. The 10 week report card will be mailed home on November 20th. If your children earn A’s, B’s, or C’s as marks, and E’s and S’s in work habits and cooperation, then they are progressing satisfactorily. If your children earn D’s or Fail’s or have U’s in work habits and cooperation, please call the Guidance Office at (323) 644-6715 to make an appointment with your children’s counselor. I want to make parents aware that to participate in the culmination ceremony and qualify for a diploma, a student must pass all subjects (earn 60 credits).

We expect all of our students to excel. To ensure students at risk improve their grades and avoid Fail’s on the final report card in the semester, King is implementing an Intervention Program for students at risk. Students are highly encouraged to participate either in the morning sessions from 7:00 a.m. – 7:45 a.m. or after school from 3:15 p.m. – 4:00 p.m. as directed by their teachers. Students may also take advantage of the LACER Homework Club, which meets daily, after school from 3:10 p.m.- 6:00 p.m.

Two key factors in achieving academic success are daily attendance and parent involvement. To do well students need on time to class on a daily basis. With the holidays approaching, I encourage you to send your children to school and to avoid long absences.

We encourage parents to participate in our parent program, which includes a “Passport to Success.” Every time you participate in a school activity your passport will be stamped. Once six stamps are collected, you are eligible to win a grand prize. November is full of activities and opportunities for you to become involved in the education of your child.
